KAB Gallery Sydney is preparing for an exclusive solo exhibition featuring a curated body of work by the fabulous artist Laurie McKern. The exhibition has been titled by the artist herself and aptly describes her tongue in cheek approach to the vivid fashions of the past. It is with pleasure to announce Pineapple Safari opens in late October this year. The exhibition brings together a colourful showcase of art which combines vintage fabrics, encaustic art medias and gorgeous oil painted figurative images. We will host the opening event party at KAB Gallery Sydney with all works available there to view and purchase in person at the event.

All interested collectors are encouraged to join us  and can register for the invite now. REGISTER HERE

Laurie McKern’s art has been known to sell out quickly at KAB Gallery, so I highly recommend registering for our VIP opening night event to get the first look at her incredible pieces in this exhibition.

For those of you unfamiliar with Laurie’s work, she has a fascinating story. Originally from Toronto, Canada, her creativity sparked in her early years. Initially inspired by her grandmother’s who was a stylish seamstress. McKern spent countless childhood hours surrounded by beautiful fabrics, fashion cuts, and drawing. Laurie’s early exposure to textiles and nostalgic imagery has clearly influenced her style, which she describes as “romantic, modern-vintage figurative paintings.” After working in graphics and illustration, Laurie made the bold move to transition into painting full-time after relocating to Sydney in the 1990s.
