Original watercolour and ink painting on paper. Framed in contemporary black trim frame with white boarder and ready to hang on your wall.

The artist, Kelly-Anne Love, has a fascination of whales and their migration along the NSW east coast. Every year she ventures to various viewpoints to watch them swim past, especially when they travel back with their young in tow. She is intrigued by their travelling patterns and the way they communicate and care for their young once born. Whales use a variety of sounds to communicate and these unique sounds are often referred to colloquially as ‘songs.’ The three main types of sounds made by whales are clicks, whistles, and pulsed calls. It is most interesting to consider what each of the sounds are used for, it is believed that clicks are mainly used between whales for navigation and identifying their physical surroundings. The artist has attempted to capture their musical nature in the movement of her subject in this piece.

This striking work is full of colour and energy. Look closely to see the finer detail. Created live at KAB Gallery Neutral Bay on 11th July 2026.
