The title “Lost” is a reference to Frederick McCubbin’s “Lost” featuring the young girl in the bushland. Here in Penelope Oates’ tribute, the figure is of a woman lost in thoughts. Her distinct rendering of the ornate frame is also a reference to the ornate frames these original works are often presented in.
