John Klein

John Klein is an Australian contemporary artist with a love of all thing Art Deco. His subject matter is closely aligned to his interests which include gardening, antiques and collectables and nature. He consistently employs vibrant colours, often drawing inspiration from the natural world, with a particular emphasis on birds, animals, and flowers. The common factor across John’s paintings is his use of striking colour to compose pictures that are beautiful to look at and easy to place in the modern home. 

John has an interesting creative career background in film and television, arts management, and marketing, He has dedicated his entire career to various creative endeavors and commenced exhibiting his paintings in 2012. He creates from a bespoke home studio thoughtfully constructed within his attic. John enjoys the unique ambience of this charming, sunlit space that offers captivating treetop views. It serves as an ideal sanctuary for his painting practice. Acrylic painting is John’s preferred medium due to its rapid drying time, vivid pigments, and inherent textural qualities.

Notably, John frequently organizes solo exhibitions, actively participates in group shows, and has achieved recognition as a finalist in esteemed art competitions such as the Mosman, Hornsby, Lethbridge, Hunters Hill, and Kennedy Art Prizes, among others. In 2017, he reached the semi-final stage in the highly competitive Doug Moran National Portrait Prize. John’s captivating paintings have garnered admiration worldwide and grace the private collections of art enthusiasts spanning Italy, France, Germany, the United States, the United Kingdom, and numerous locations throughout Australia. His art is currently hanging in the Salon des Refusés 2023 exhibition at the S.H. Ervin Gallery in Sydney.
