The KAB Exhibition Continues: New Paintings of Avoca & Terrigal Beach by Sally West

KAB Gallery’s collection has recently doubled in size with the opening of a second gallery at Sydney. Myself and the KAB Gallery Team are excited to welcome many new artists to the KAB stable and to exhibit even more art by our existing artists. As Covid-19 restrictions have limited the exhibition events calendar we are running a continuous and ever changing exhibition of all of our artist’s work. We welcome you to view the complete collection on our website to discover where your favourites are being exhibited. There are also extensive stockrooms at each of the KAB Gallery locations where my expert team can assist you by appointment.  By opening the new gallery in Sydney I aim to bring more of Australia’s most coveted art to you in a relaxed and beautiful setting. I invite you to visit either of the galleries and view original artworks knowing that each piece has been carefully vetted through consultation between myself and each artist.

In particular this week I am pleased to showcase the most recent set of beach paintings by Sally West. This fresh body of work focuses on the more secluded beaches of Australia’s East Coast. While Sally West grew up in the country on a rural farm in NSW Australia, she is instinctively drawn to water and is in constant search for the perfect water viewpoint or coastal subject to paint. When I initially heard Sally was considering some studio studies of Central Coast beaches my heartstrings were immediately tugged! I knew a series of Terrigal, Avoca or Soldiers Beach would be beautiful in her impasto style. I am so pleased to now offer a unique set of original oil paintings featuring the iconic viewpoints of Terrigal and Avoca Beach for purchase. The Beach series is loved by audiences worldwide and these studio studies are a charming extension as Sally West explores the more secluded beaches.

The paintings feature the impasto oil paint texture Sally West so confidently applies, along with her beautiful subtle palette reminiscent of icing, gelato and delectable cream. Her composition appears more structured than her plein air work, making the beach locations discernible and nostalgic to those who have visted.

Terrigal Beach is a patrolled beach and has a small ocean rock pool tucked into the cliff at the southern end near Terrigal Haven. The Haven is a protected boat harbour with boat ramp, fishing charters, scuba diving and snorkelling, picnic and barbecue facilities. A new walk-way is currently being constructed to link the main part of the beach to the Terrigal Haven.

As part of this beach studies project, Sally West’s independent research of the locations involved the creation of a series of drawings on paper. While the drawings will not be available for purchase we were pleased to have these gorgeous painted oil studies professionally mounted and available via our beautiful Terrigal art gallery or contemporary gallery in Sydney. Framing is also available.
