Perfect Match – A new artwork becomes part of Redhead history

Kelly-Anne Love is the first of four new contemporary artists to exhibit at KAB Gallery this August. With Contempo at KAB fast approaching, she visited the gallery with a selection of vibrant new artworks ready for framing, including her original artwork which features nationally on all Redheads matchboxes.

This original piece of Redheads history will be exhibited for the first time at KAB Gallery in August alongside 5 more of Kelly-Anne Love’s original paintings.
Kelly-Anne has been working on a series of coastal sea creatures and bird life for her feature exhibition at KAB Gallery as part of the annual month of contemporary art at KAB Gallery.
KAB Gallery is keen to showcase this special artwork. Kelly-Anne says that the Redheads project happened by chance, explaining “I often have people send me links to art prizes or random competitions they feel my artworks should be part of. A client named Carol sent me the link to the Redheads Matchbox cover comp and quite seriously I didn’t give it a second thought. But the theme was The Perfect Match so I was suddenly struck with an idea to give Miss Redheads a boyfriend. Not just any boyfriend, one that was really cool with long hair, rugged beard, tattooed etc. I’m unsure if we have ever seen her with a man and that’s what I think made it so unique she found someone who was her perfect match that she could share the box equally with.”
Kelly-Anne loves creating and a blank page is her ultimate endeavour. “It feels like magic to see how an artwork reveals itself.” We look forward to showing more of her art during August. Mark your diaries August 1 or subscribe to our e-news for the catalogue.
