I’ve heard the old saying “baking is love made edible” and now I have truly seen it with my own eyes!

This week KAB Gallery opened the annual Contempo at KAB exhibition with works by Australian artist Kirsten Jackson. It seems that one artwork in particular has captured the heart of popular cake-maker Charlie & Bella Cupcakes. It’s always a delight to see KAB Gallery artworks “liked” and commented on via social media, but this week our instagram account @KABGalleryTerrigal was tagged in a rather unexpected image. Kirsten Jackson’s stunning artwork had inspired a scrumptiously beautiful cake!

Appropriately titled “Forever In Love With You“, this amazing artwork had not only captured the heart of popular cake-maker, Dee, but also inspired a buttercream sensation. The beautiful caramel rush flavoured sponge cake was infused with salted caramel (poured over each buttercream layer), and topped with buttercream icing in the style and colour-scheme of Kirsten’s work.

We were all so excited to see this wonderful representation of Kirsten’s artwork available at KAB Gallery, and especially excited to see how the work had inspired Dee’s unique creation. Everything was considered and created with care. A particularly tricky part was applying the buttercream icing into the layered pattern to represent the painting. Look closely to inspect the detail and see that the black and white coloured sections are both edible paint over coloured salted caramel flavoured buttercream, which appears smooth and layered like the painting.

Kirsten Jackson’s abstract paintings can’t be missed at the year’s Contempo at KAB Gallery

If anyone out there is inspired by our artwork we would love to see the outcome! Please tag our social media platforms.
