This iconic Australian scene was painted by Sally West en plein air, and has since remained hidden away in her studio to dry. Her heavy application of oil paint takes a long time to dry but is well worth the wait. The painting surface is certainly something to be seen. Her technique is similar to that of a sculptor, working the material for depth and texture.
Her muted palette is soft and subtle, perfect for this peaceful subject. This painting measures 120x150cm and would suit either a contemporary or traditional interior.
