(1924 – 2015)

One of Australia’s most influential figurative artists. A distinctive style and often depicting lone characters with whimsical averted eyes.

Robert Dickerson exhibited as part of the Antipodean group. The group was 7 modern Australian artists. They exhibited together in 1959 to assert the importance of figurative art and protest against abstract expressionism.

He is a self-taught artist inspired by everyday life. His work incorporates emotional themes of loneliness, emotional ups and downs, and companionship.
