Monica Ajenjo

Hyperrealist artist, with a studio in Valencia, Spain. Monica Ajenjo is formally educated in Law from the University of Valencia as well as Fine Arts, Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV) and Art History by the UNED.
Monica’s current series feature elaborate gift bows and balloons.

“To me objects such as pretty bows and shiny balloons trigger memories of happiness and joyful expectations – is there anything more exciting than opening a beautifully-wrapped present? – and invite you to connect to your inner child.”

This series represents positive omens of good things that are yet to come. They are, in short, a celebration of contemporary life.

“My inspiration draws from the pop art of the 1960s, although, unlike this iconic movement, instead of taking an everyday object and turning it into an easily-reproduced, ready for mass consumption, work-of-art, my colored bows and balloons´ series transforms everyday objects into unique and unrepeatable pieces by using a Renaissance pictorial technique that makes them impossible to mass-produce.”

Monica’s art is internationally collected in private and public collections: USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, United Kingdom, Korea, México, Dominican Republic.
