Over a decade of Art: Est. 2013

Laine Walker

Born near Glasgow (Scotland) and now living on the NSW east coast, Laine Walker is a lover of the coastal lifestyle and climate contrasts. Both these aspects of her adopted homeland provide Laine with the inspiration for her art practice. Combining oil and acrylic paint with intricately stitched patterns and shapes creates a layered textural representation of the subject matter.

With a background in fashion combined with her artistic style, her monochromatic figurative series available at KAB Gallery is sophisticated and interesting.

“The human figure has been an enduring subject in the fine arts and is of course fundamental to the fashion industry. My stitched figurative works create a dialogue between these two worlds and a connection between my past, present and future. I have loved drawing and painting since I was in high school. My first job at 16 years of age was as a seamstress and I have been sewing and making things for most of my life. I love making art and these works combine my background in sewing and fashion with my desire to paint and draw.”
