Julie Simmons has a rich and varied background in the arts, with experience as a commercial artist, detail draughtsperson, and a successful studio potter. She returned to her true passion for painting in 2004 and gained recognition and many awards for her exceptional watercolour skills. While Julie works with various mediums, it is watercolour that truly ignites her creativity, pushing the boundaries of the medium and introducing various mark making techniques to add something extra. Julie finds inspiration in painting outdoors, capturing the essence of shape and tone. This approach allows her to simplify her subjects while maintaining a sense of depth. Never one to stay static in her approach Julie has explored multi-media and expressive watercolour techniques on canvas, resulting in paintings that are both translucent and complex. Julie has received many accolades and awards and is held in private and corporate collections in Australia and overseas.

Julie is a Fellow of the Royal Art Society of NSW.
