Julie Lynch is a contemporary Australian artist whose contemporary floral and still life paintings celebrate the beauty of nature and the stories held within everyday objects. Working from her historic Stables Studios at Throsby Park in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, she creates original Australian paintings that combine vibrant colour, expressive texture and thoughtful composition.
Before establishing herself as a full time painter, Julie enjoyed an acclaimed creative career spanning more than three decades in theatre design and arts education. She holds a Doctor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of Sydney and is a graduate of NIDA, where she also served as Design Director. Her work in theatre earned multiple Helpmann, Sydney Theatre, APDG and Green Room Awards, bringing a sophisticated understanding of composition, colour, storytelling and visual balance to her contemporary art practice.
Today Julie is recognised for contemporary still life and botanical paintings that blend Australian flora, native birds, vintage ceramics and treasured heirlooms into beautifully curated compositions. Using bold colour, controlled brushwork, layered impasto and collage techniques, she creates richly textured artworks that invite the viewer to slow down and appreciate the beauty found in ordinary moments.
Drawing inspiration from the changing seasons, historic gardens and landscapes of the Southern Highlands, Julie’s paintings balance contemporary design with timeless subject matter. Each work reflects her fascination with memory, place and connection, resulting in artworks that feel both fresh and enduring.
Julie Lynch’s original paintings have been exhibited throughout Australia and are held in private collections across Australia and internationally. Alongside her studio practice, she is passionate about sharing creativity through workshops, mentoring and collector events, welcoming visitors into Stables Studios to experience the place where each collection begins.
Julie continues to build a reputation as one of Australia’s exciting contemporary floral and still life artists, creating original artworks that bring warmth, colour and lasting character to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
