Kasey Sealy is a well renowned oil painter from NSW and has spent most of his career capturing landscapes with oil on canvas as his main medium.

But, with great delight KAB Gallery is proud to display his new watercolour series which he dabbled en plein air in none other than the glorious, Venice! He hasn’t painted watercolours for over 20 years!!!

Inspired by not only the stunning landscape but the disappointment to find the lack of original and ‘good art’ finding only prints and decorative gifts. So Kasey took to the street to create his own original take on Venice!

You can see more of Kasey’s work as well as his methodology and style in his book, ‘Paint Your Vision in Oils’ available in store at the KAB Gallery on Terrigal Beach. He explores the choices in colours to the approach you can take on the canvas. His work ‘Wooli Southerly’ is illustrated on page 128 and talks you through the work. Ever wondered how the artist works? Come in and check it out!

In a recent interview with Australian Artist magazine Kasey was asked to discuss the key points of his style. He answered that he aims to begin each work with a great composition and then leaves the light to pull the strings. It makes the subject jump out at me and it dictates the atmosphere and mood I will create using colour. One of Kasey’s strongest beliefs is the importance of creating art for the joy of painting. For him, art comes from the heart, not only the head.

We’d love to congratulate Kasey Sealy on stepping out of the oil on canvas medium and taking watercolours back into his repertoire, the atmospheric and semi-transparent quality of watercolours are a refreshing spectacle from Sealy’s oils. The talent of the artists does not rest in their medium!
