A stunning new arrival to KAB Gallery Sydney, “The Shortcut” by Sally West has quickly attracted the attention of many viewers that enter the gallery. Excited to welcome to piece to our walls, we have been loving the positive reception the work has gathered, as it hangs alongside many of Sally West’s new paintings. Vibrant, bold and eye-catching, the piece features a beautifully rendered street scene that overlooks Manly beach, as its waves peak over the street in the right corner of the background. The title of the work “The Shortcut” refers to an old shortcut that Sally used to take on her journey home when she lived close by.

This 2016 painting not only was a finalist in both the Hornsby and Wyndham Art Prizes but the WINNER of the 2017 Clifton’s Art Prize, Sydney Section. “The Shortcut” is loaded with texture, as thick beads of oil paint overhang the sides of the canvas, giving the edges a beautiful raw finish that so many of our visitors admire. The piece as a whole emits a wonderful, summery atmosphere and there is so much to explore within the plane.
