Original painting by Australian Artist Jo Waite.

Using a reference photo from the City of Sydney Archives, we see a bus turning from Campbell Pde to Military Rd, North Bondi in 1971.

“Summer Breeze Makes Me Feel Fine” – Jo Waite’s painting captures that exact mood. There’s so much depth to this painting as we focus on the #380 North Bondi bound double decker. Change your focus a little further back to see lots of people taking a swim or having a surf at the iconic Bondi Beach. Then set your gaze to the background and the tightly crammed art-deco units where some of those swimmers have probably wandered down in their thongs, with a beach towel and covered in baby oil. Jo has given us the feel of a stunning day. It’s sunny, by the look of the slightly choppy surf, it’s breezy – one of those warm breezes that does make you feel fine – life’s great!
