“In this new ‘Automatic Writing’ series, the paint stands alone and speaks for itself. The paintings convey a sense of energy and urgency with the brushstrokes, balanced by the calmness and beauty that comes from the colours. ‘Automatic Writing’ is the practice of writing without conscious purpose, giving voice to the subconscious mind or the spirit, a practice long explored by poets, writers and spiritualists. I chose that title for the paintings because the marks are created spontaneously, often with very energetic, but unplanned, gestures. The strong black lines in particular resemble blown-up fragments of handwriting, straight from the unknown. The process of creating them was pure painting, without the constraints of pre-determined form and meaning, a practice that I hope to continue in future works.”

Located in the most visible position on what is probably Sydney's busiest road, KAB Gallery Sydney in Pymble offers a revolving exhibition of some of Australia's best collectable and contemporary art, along with an expert art consulting service and other related services. Next to Pymble train station and with a large carpark directly behind us, KAB Gallery Sydney is so easy to visit for everyone throughout Sydney.
