“Anyone Got Change?” – This amazing and highly detailed painting is stunning! There is so much to take in and absorb as you study this painting. Who remembers handing over or dropping your 20-cent toll into the bucket before you cruise across Sydney’s famous Harbour Bridge? The traffic banks up, the red rattlers sit on both platforms of Milson’s Point Station, other drivers make their way North bound in what are now classic cars, meanwhile people scurry around the strip of shops down below going about their business. In the distance, beyond the bridge, we see cranes on the building tops to suggest Sydney is a city that’s starting to develop. Jo’s painting captures a point in time in Sydney’s history where it was growing up, maturing and modernising.
