Yesterday we had the pleasure of watching the talented Sally West painting en plein air on our very own Terrigal Beach. Completing one large artwork depicting the beautiful Terrigal Haven as well as two small studies. We were lucky to see Sally West’s painting process and learn about her unique methodology.

The Sydney-based artist travelled from Sydney to capture what was a mostly sunny but partly overcast day. She enjoyed referring to the darker hues of the navy waters for her large piece measuring 90x150cm of The Haven. Locals spotted the unmistakable red roofed fishery and the fish and chip shop as well as a yellow boat and the famous Pine trees of this area.

The KAB Gallery team & Sally West carefully hung the artwork straight away on the KAB Gallery wall.

Hanging straight away in the gallery to dry, the painting is titled “Yellow Boat at Terrigal Haven” and is now available for purchase. Click here for MORE INFO

Sally wrapped up the day by completing two small studies, “Wamberal” and “Terrigal Study”. Her big palette strokes and thick application of oils makes Sally’s work a visual wonder both up close and from far away. We can’t wait for her next visit!
