Like all Australians, the team from KAB Gallery are devastated to learn the details about the current drought gripping most of Australia. We have joined with well known award-winning artist Sally West to raise funds and offer relief to those doing it so tough.

Farm life is close to Sally West’s heart. Raised on a sheep and wheat station near Condobolin in the NSW central west, Sally remembers spending most of her time mustering sheep and exploring the land on motorbikes with her brother. It was an idyllic life lived in a way that was so disconnected from the rest of the world, but a way of life that is now under threat for many of those living in rural Australia.

“I have huge empathy for this great land and what it offers, and for our farmers who are going through the toughest of times right now,” says Sally. “I’ve been blessed with a very fortunate life. I believe in giving back, and it feels good to know that it will help people who really need it. When Kerry told me she also wanted to do something to help the farmers living through the current conditions, I knew a special exhibition of my rural paintings would be the perfect idea. My rural paintings are an expression of my deep passion for the land, so being able to use them to help those in need is a very special opportunity for me.”

KAB Gallery Director Kerry-Anne Blanket, who while raised in the city spent considerable time living and working on-campus as a teacher in rural schools, was struck by images of the current conditions in the country. “When I saw what our rural friends were currently facing I really wanted to do something to help.”Sally West’s artworks are painted on location and are testiment to the beauty this harsh landscape has to offer visually, by purchasing these gorgeous artworks you will be contributing to the even bigger picture”.

KAB Gallery and Sally West are proudly joining forces to donate 20% from the sale of Sally’s selected country works (available to view at https://www.kabgallery.com/event/help-our-farmers-the-big-dry/) to the amazing team at Rural Aid. This means that with even the smallest painting purchased from this catalogue, you will be supplying 5 bales of hay and a gift basket directly to affected farmers, or contributing towards supplying 11,500 litres of water. Our ultimate aim is to provide a semi-trailer worth of hay (including delivery to the areas most in need) and over 100,000 litres of water for drought affected areas of the country.

Together we CAN make a difference to farmers currently doing it tough. We thank you for your interest and look forward to working with you to make these targets a reality.
