Jasmine’s Choice: This week’s favourite artwork
KAB Gallery’s Jasmine Carter loves art and is always up-to-date with fresh creatives and the latest art trends. She loves art so much that each week she selects her favourite artwork from the gallery’s current exhibition, sharing her thoughts and ideas about it. This week the entire KAB Gallery team has been obsessing over Katie Wyatt’s oil painting “Egyptian Blue”, which Jasmine has also made her “Choice of the Week”!
My personal favourite is Katie Wyatt’s ‘Egyptian Blue’. There is so much that I admire about her floral series but for this work, I love her use of colour. The differentiating blues along with the yellows, pinks, purples and slight touches of burgundy create solid composition using texture and shapes that form beautiful flower-like figures through thick applications of oil paint. The thick and luscious use of oil paints give depth and draw me into the artwork. I feel as though I am connecting with the artists message and transported to the meadow engulfed in elegant vibrant flowers. I love when an artist can create an artwork that makes you want to believe in the artwork itself, you want to know more about the physical process along with the hidden emotional connection the artist had to create this specific piece. Its much more exciting when an artwork captivates your senses and inner thoughts, just like Katie Wyatt’s, Egyptian Blue captivates my artistic thoughts.
KAB Gallery will be hosting a special feature of Katie Wyatt’s most recent work in the August Exhibition: Contempo at KAB . View the new artworks in the Terrigal Gallery 8th-14th August (Open Daily 10am-5pm)
