This week KAB Gallery welcomed some fresh new pieces by Sydney impressionist artist Simon Buchan. The newest additions to the exhibition include stunning Byron Bay and Sydney landscapes as well as exciting pieces from his popular “Still Life” and “Fish Series”.
Oil on Canvas (35x71cm)
Simon’s use of colour and his expressive impasto style brings a breath of fresh air to any space. Depicting scenes we often associate with nostalgic memories (such as a summer in Byron Bay, or weekend in Sydney enjoying the sunshine through the buildings) really draws the viewer into the painting to recall their own memories.
“Some of my work is quite realistic in nature although I also like to re-imagine the subject and paint in a tactile style, seeking to capture the spirit of what I am seeing.”
Hidden Bay (View to Lavender Bay)
Oil on Canvas (50x60cm)
Oil on Canvas (90x90cm)
With it’s feature of tropical foliage, Simon’s Morning Wave (Byron Bay) is very on-trend and perfect to liven up any room, much like a new plant brings a sense of vibrancy and relaxation to a room.
